Better Late Than Never

Anna's birthday was almost 2 weeks ago... and I'm only getting around to her birthday post now.

*Sigh*

Things have been a bit upside down lately... nothing bad, nothing earth shattering... just busy. And sometimes it feels as though my Anna-girl gets lost in the mix. Reagan's registering for baseball, bringing home homework and losing teeth and doing all the first things that first-borns do. Colson is rolling over, demanding attention and doing all the things that babies do. And at every turn, Anna is there with boundless energy and little-girl giggles. She handles her current state of middledom with all the grace in the world. At 5 years old, her name fits her more than ever and she daily demonstrates that she has Grace upon Grace. Whether entertaining Colson when he's fussy, grabbing her own books or crayons when our focus is on helping Reagan with his homework (and sometimes helping him in the process!), she takes whatever is happening in stride and in many ways is a big part of the glue that helps us stick together.

I hope as she grows up she knows that her servant-heartedness does not go unnoticed. I hope that she realizes that her laughter and endless positivity is a gift to be cherished and shared.

And so in honor of my sweet Anna-girl, here are just a few of my favorite Anna quotes from this past year of her precious life. I hope they bring a smile to your face, because that is one of her specialities.

Anna: Mom, who are you texting?
Me: Kristin Horst.
::phone dings::
Anna: Mom! Kristin the horse texted you back!

Mom, something is very wrong with this orange juice. It has fuzzies in it.

Reagan: Anna, you should be my girlfriend.
Anna: Can't. I'm already a mom and married.
Reagan: To who?
Anna: Jar Jar Binks.
Mom, does the baby come out naked or will it have a diaper on it?

Mom, what animal do noodles come from?

Me: Anna, what would you like to drink?
Anna: Can I have chocolate milk without too much milk in it?

Happy 5th Birthday, sweet girl.
